THE MARVELS PROJECT Hardcover
The Hardcover collection of THE MARVELS PROJECT came out this week collecting all 8 issues of the mini series I did with Ed Brubaker. It's available with three different covers to choose from. The two variants are covers I did for issues 6 and 7, one featuring the titanic battle between Namor and the Human Torch and the other showcasing the Red Skull (with a cameo appearance by Hitler naturally). Modern Proper Ladies
I love how the proper lady is back in action as she should be. Lord knows the world can use a little class & grace front and center.....These clothes are lovely, I want them all and will dream of the Marc Jacobs suit and the second Dries Van Noten outfit. (It perfectly blends my So Cal slackerness with my love for high fashion.) This goes to show how powerful popular culture is, Mad Men is recreating something that has been lost and it's deeper than fashion, it's a refined lifestyle and I'm glad its back. (I do think its hilarious that whenever I blog about this look I end up really wanting a cocktail.)

Haute Umbrella Hat
This is a serious hat paired with some serious rain gear from Self Service Summer 2010, I (of course) would love to wear this outfit around my little beach town during the next storm. I also want this photo as a print for my wall, it's stunning. Happy Friday.
P.S. I was so grateful last night that Ashley texted me saying Project Runway was premiering in an hour, I had NO idea! I'm really liking these new designers and the talent level is up.
What cast changes would you like to see for next season on SNL?
So Faith prompted a good discussion, which is what her wish list would be for cast changes on SNL this upcoming season...
The people on the cast of SNL are I think almost the same. Andy's staying. I think a black female will be introduced.

So Kristen already said she'd come back, and we know Bobby wouldn't miss it. Plus I don't know why Fred would leave. Will Forte is also missing from this list.
Basically, my best guess is that Fred, Will, or Kenan would be the next to go (and I'd be fine seeing them all go, although I have to admit that each has some hilarious bits).
This is what I'd miss from them...
Fred Armisen: His Surface Map bit he did on Weekend Update a few years back was hilarious. His Governor Patterson makes me laugh every time, and his Native American comedian (Billy Smith) is amazing. Nicholas Fehn proves that he's got skills. His Garth and Kat bit is amusing, but even then I'm laughing at Kristen and Seth. Most of the other times I'm just not laughing at his jokes, including his Obama (it's more the writing that's funny than the performance), Telemundo stuff, Elinda Node (court stenographer), and Roger Brush (producer that takes over talk shows). The dude has 77 impressions, but none of them are memorable to me. After 8 years, he could probably go soon.
Will Forte: It's his Weekend Update songs that I'd miss, but he doesn't do them very often. I like his dancing coach bit, and MacGruber is always amusing. I think the MacGruber movie bomb is juat a perfect example that his humor is just a little too weird for people to connect to him (as well as his Brothers Solomon bomb). His Bon Jovi bit is amusing, but really his Carl (annoying Office guy), Clancy T, Greg Stink, and Tim Calhoun just further show that his comedy is more "weird" than "funny." His Goerge Bush wasn't much of an impression, and it got replaced by Jason (and Will Ferrell guest appearing) there at the end. I'm surprised that they kept him around for 8 years, with him not touching bases with his audience, but there are occasionally strokes of genius like his Megan Fox digital short where he was socially awkward and dumped her and his Chips skit where Jason Sudeikis played like a Colonel Sanders engineer. Will has also been around for 8 years and could probably go soon.
Kenan Thompson: He pretty much saved himself with Diondre Cole's "What Up With That?" this past season. His DJ Dynasty Handbag, Grady Wilson, Jean K Jean, Lorenzo MacIntosh, Oscar Rogers (Fix It), and Virginiaca Hastings walk the line between mildly amusing and "make the pain stop!" I love his Bill Cosby and Whoopi Goldberg, but most of his other 64 impressions are just him.
But with Kenan as the only black member, Fred doing most all the cold openings, Will playing a lot of the straight guy and every-man characters, and the fact that none of them have other options to go to, it might be awhile longer before they leave. Plus it doesn't look like Lorne has a bunch of hot shot young actors to bring in and mix it up, like he did in 2005 with Kristen, Andy, Jason, and Bill (which would mean more of a reason to phase out the older actors).
Other thoughts:
- I agree that they could get another black actor or actress on the show.
- I agree that another Obama impressionist would be good (AlphaCat is the most famous and Obama's personal favorite).
- I don't think they will or should lose Bobby or Kristen (or Abby or Andy, for that matter).
- I'm on the line about Jenny Slate. Her commercials are funny, but she still hasn't proven herself. However, I think Nasim Pedrad is the next Cheri Oteri, so they should definitely keep her.
- I would like to see more new blood (new actors), because Bill and Jason are also starting to run out of jokes and steam.
- Of the non-featured players, I think only Andy Samberg and Kristen Wiig still have momentum and steam in their characters and digital shorts.
- Seth Meyers should stay, of course. He's becoming a cultural icon.

Mhm. For Saturday, as I said before, one word: youtube. www.youtube.com. I won't go further revealing...yet. First: a red-line cocktail is made of Sambuca, Jose Cuervo Tequila and something called Creme de Cassis (1 teaspoon of it) which is a blood-red, sweet, blackcurrant flavored liqueur.
Now, what is the meaning of all this? How in the world can these two things have something in common??! What these two things they have in common is Obo Cafe. Saturday, for a shot cocktail of red line, you will be the most powerful man/woman in the bar, for several minutes. Because for every red-line cocktail shot, shot of cocktail, you will choose the music, you want, one song or why not a video or something you like...from the YouTube.
We thought: Hey, let's make a YouTube night. We'll have an image projector, we have the internet, let's have fun with the YouTube like we have fun at home, only that this time you won't spend your time on YouTube at home, but /of course/ at Obo.

It fascinates me to see what countries around the world show at their respective fashion weeks and India did not disappoint with their version of couture. Wow is actually the word that came to mind when I saw these photos, I think the designs are stunning. The first red dress is my favorite, I would love to wear it to a ball although I don't think its great for partner dancing but oh well I wouldn't need a date, the dress and I would be in love and I'd happily dance alone.

Robbie is a shy and awkward student at Hollywood Arts, so it makes sense that he is more comfortable speaking through a "dummy." Robbie is a master ventriloquist and Rex is his alter-ego his and very hip companion.
The actor is MATT BENNETT: Matt's acting education began with the Long Island-based "Way Off Broadway" acting company. He first performed, alongside Carly Simon, with "The Yard", an acclaimed artists colony in Martha's Vineyard. He continued studying acting with the Upright Citizens Brigade in New York and soon began working in voiceover and commercials. Most recently, he guest starred in the premiere of Comedy Central's "Michael & Michael Have Issues." He also co-wrote and starred in the short film, "Text Me," for which he also composed and performed the original music.

Tuesday, August 3 Rachel & Co. are back in action and I for one cannot wait! How gorgeous does she look in this picture from Instyle?? Extra! Extra! Read all about it!
Ladies and lads. Are you bored? No sun is shining? We will give you that summer feeling this week, as in every week. The game night, or The Game Night, is huuuuuuuuge fun. I mean, games like "don't let the monkey fall out of the tree", Cluedo, Uno, Risc Commander, Jenga Tower, Saboteur, Cash'n'Guns and many, many more. You don't have all night to try all out. So, we gather again tomorrow (Wednesday) and we shall play. Seriously, not so seriously, depending on the game, but at least you will all do something creative and FUN.
Wednesday : Game Night.
Rendez-vous Thursday. Vygo meets Byby & Eddy. Minimalistic house muzak, good times. What else could I possibly say more about Thursday's at Obo than you all know. Maybe you even know more than we do. If you don't know how it is or what is it about, ask a friend, or ask a friend to ask a friend. One of these two possibilities will give you some info and some feedback. And I bet ya it's gonna be a good one.
For Saturday...we shall tease you a little bit. One word: youtube. ?!

Loving these hairstyles from Para Ti Magazine, they all have a place in my heart. I was just thinking last night I need to pull off a faux bob, duo #2's hair is sexy and look #3 is so chic, I must duplicate. The photos themselves shot by Matias Troncoso are stunning and the styling by Robert Torres is absolutely fabulous, I need more of this magazine in my life!
