How Beauty Queen lost their Title

Open opposition to gay marriage and a nude photo shoot.

Former Miss California USA Carrie Prejean has admitted that a leaked steamy tape she shot while in her teens was 'the biggest mistake' of her life.
The model revealed she was 17 when she made the raunchy video for an ex-boyfriend who later “betrayed” her and sold it.

“They can call it whatever they want to call it, but it was the biggest mistake of my life,” Fox News quoted her as saying.

“I was all by myself and I was sending a boyfriend at the time who I loved and cared about a video of me … I was not having sex with anybody and you call it whatever you want,” she added.

The 22-year-old said she regrets making the tape, calling it bad judgment at the time.

She said: “I was a teenager at the time and never did I think it would ever come out. But it was bad judgment and it’s embarrassing and it’s humiliating to be talking about this now on national TV if you can imagine.”

Prejean was stripped off her title after being caught up in a controversy involving her open opposition to gay marriage and a nude photo shoot.

She slapped the state organization with a lawsuit alleging she lost her crown over her religious beliefs. The pageant accused her of missing events and filed a countersuit.

Both the parties settled the legal spat after reaching a confidential agreement.

Prejean, who had been seeking more than a million dollars in damages, withdrew her demands after the lawyer for the pageant showed her a sex tape, featuring her as the protagonist, according to reports.

Rachel Christie, has had to step off her beauty queen platform, after getting into a brawl at a bar.

The reigning Miss England, Rachel Christie, has had to step off her beauty queen platform, after getting into a brawl at a bar. The 21 year old reportedly picked a fight with a fellow beauty queen, while partying at a nightclub last week.

The brawl included Miss England punching Miss Manchester’s Sara Beverly Jones, in the face several times. The two were attending an “adult” themed costume party. Jones thought it would be a good idea to show Christie a provocative text message that Jones had received on her cell phone. The problem was that the text happened to be from Christie’s boyfriend, David McIntosh. McIntosh is also known as the Tornado on the Gladiators show. The 24 year old Jones, is his x-girlfriend.

Christie who practices tae kwon do, was released on bail, and will work to clear her name after the little misunderstanding. She has a court hearing in January when she will face the assault charges. She will continue to train for the 2012 Olympics where she plans to enter in the heptathlon.

Mexican beauty queen stripped of title due to drug

In October 2008, 23-year-old Zuniga was proudly posing for pictures, as she had just been crowned Queen of Hispanic America, a title she had undoubtedly worked hard to achieve. On Friday, she was posing again for the paparazzi, this time unwillingly, as she was dragged to police headquarters on weapons and drug related charges. Just a few hours ago, because of the ensuing scandal, Zuniga was stripped of her crown and ditched by the pageant organization.

A judge ordered that Zuniga be detained for another 40 days pending investigation. The beauty queen, once the walking pride of her country, Mexico, was allegedly caught with 9 mm pistols, semi-automatic rifles and $53,000 in cash. With her was also a man believed to be her boyfriend, reportedly a drug lord for the Juarez Cartel, and six other men. All eight are awaiting prosecution for charges of “racketeering, drug trafficking, guns and money laundering.” the Time publication informs.

Whereas no comment was made by a representative of the beauty queen, the beauty pageant organization has already spoken out and explained the decision of dethroning Zuniga of her title. Admittedly, she broke the only rule that required her to demonstrate “adequate behavior, avoid scandals and bad habits and be a good example for society.” Promociones Gloria said in a statement released to the media on the heels of her highly mediated arrest.
Zuniga is also the third ranked beauty in Miss Mexico and this means that, as the local media underlines, no matter in how many scandals she is involved from now on, or how many times her titles are taken from her, she still qualifies to represent her country in the Miss International beauty contest in 2009. However, if the police investigation finds her legally liable, then it would be impossible for her to take part in the competition, as the organization would prevent her from participating.

While the Zuniga scandal has provided fuel for gossip-lovers worldwide, the fall from grace of the 23-year-old beauty also tells another story, as more than one publication has already stressed. “[It] provided some variety in the news for a nation weary of piles of corpses and vicious firefights in its relentless drug war. But beneath the media frolics, the tale of the fallen beauty queen highlights the dark side of how sprawling crime syndicates have penetrated so many areas of Mexican life.” Time writes.
