The Lake

Joseph, me, Kathy and Jeff at Ouachita

Me, Sarah and Kathy at Beaver
Like I said before, Joseph and I are completely obsessed with going to the lake. If we ever have a free weekend, which we seem to make sure we do, we are at Lake Ouachita. This past weekend we went to Beaver for a wakeboarding tournament and we had so much fun. It brought back so many memories of getting out of class in college and heading up there everyday to get a few hours of wakeboarding in before it got dark.
Joseph has so many good wakeboarding buddies up there and they are so amazing to watch. JJ, one of our good friends, runs a boat shop, Arrowhead, so he was helping with the tournament. It was really nice to see him again and I could tell Joseph missed all of his hard core wakeboarding days.
It was so funny b/c all of these guys are trying to sell us a new boat, you know, the new souped up Malibus with all the hardcore wakeboarding technology. We are so happy with our boat I dont know if we will ever sell it. Joseph got an all black Crownline for his highschool graduation and it is the most gorgeous boat on the lake. He has kept it in immaculate condition....which I wouldnt expect anything less from my perfectionist husband! sometimes wonderful...sometimes annoying...haha
Sarah and Jared went out with us, and like always we had a blast. They are such important friends to us, we are so lucky to have them so close.
Jeff and Kathy were with us too. We pretty much hang out with them every weekend, whether it is at Ouachita, Ft Smith or Fayetteville. It is amazing how close we have all become in such a small amount of time. I told Kathy the other day that I wish we would have known each other as well when we were planning our wedding b/c they definately would have been in the bridal party. They are just so much fun and easy to be around, which is hard to come by.
We are headed back to the lake this weekend with Jeff and Liz and maybe Kathy and Jeff (hopefully).
Im sure it will be as fun as always! Cant wait!
till next time
Ciao!

Magical Meal

Want to make your bedroom life more adventurous? Well, in that case, turn to Thai green curry, which has been found to give a person"s libido that much needed boost.
The conclusion is based on a new research, which found that the ‘magical" meal is full of aphrodisiacs.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The curry includes cardamom, ginseng, garlic, ginger, basil, lemon grass and asparagus — all considered by different cultures to get you feeling sexy.

The top-10 list of takeaway meals based on the number of aphrodisiac ingredients per meal was compiled by takeaway company Just-Eat.

The Top Ten are:

1 Thai green curry
2 Hot and spicy pizza
3 Chicken Korma
4 Seafood Laksa
5 Mole Poblano
6 Sushi
7 Chicken Tikka Masala
8 Spicy Balinese Curry
9 Spicy Meatballs and Pasta
10 King Prawns With Ginger & Spring Onions

Hot and spicy pizza topped with tomatoes, onions, garlic, basil, olives, meatballs and chillis grabbed the second position, according to research for takeaway website Just-Eat.co.uk.

Chicken Korma comes in at No 3, thanks to its potent blend of coconut, garlic, chilli, ginger and almonds — all said to improve sex drive in females.

Seafood Laksa is fourth because of its coconut milk, ginger, garlic, basil and onions.

"Thai green curry has long been known in the East to boost sex drive," The Sun quoted Just-Eat"s Ash Ali, as saying.

"The British public instead only tend to know more expensive aphrodisiacs such as oysters and caviar," Ali added.

Recipes: Thai green curry

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Ingredients
1 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tbsp green curry paste (according to taste)
1 tbsp soft dark brown sugar
1-2 thick stalks lemongrass, fat ends bashed with a rolling pin (optional)
750g/1½lb skinless, boneless chicken, cut into chunks (use breast and/or leg meat)
6-8 kaffir lime leaves, torn into pieces (if unavailable, use the grated zest of 1 lime)
400ml/14fl oz coconut milk
good shake of Thai fish sauce or light soy sauce
small handful of coriander, roughly chopped
½-1 lime, juice only
Optional: Add Cardamom, ginseng, garlic, ginger, basil

Method
1. Heat the oil in a wok or large frying pan. Add the green curry paste and sugar and cook over a fairly high heat for about a minute, stirring with the lemongrass, if using. Reduce the heat slightly and stir in the chicken pieces and lime leaves or zest until coated in the paste. Add the coconut milk, fish sauce or soy sauce and bring to a simmer, cooking for 25-30 minutes until thickened slightly. Stir in the coriander and lime juice. Check for seasoning, adding more fish sauce or soy sauce if needed.
2. The curry is now best left to sit for a few minutes so the sauce becomes creamier. You will also taste the true flavours of the curry paste ingredients when it's slightly cooler. Serve with lots of fragrant Thai jasmine rice.

Cooking time 30 mins to 1 hour

Celebrating our 1st anniversary with our new blog!

Mom and I at Brewski's

Joseph and I on our honeymoon in St. Martin

My step family

My brother, Bryan and my mom, Marilyn

Joseph's family

I have enjoyed all of my friends blogs some much that I decided I would start one myself. Even though we do not have any children yet, we are always keeping busy with work, our new baby cocker spaniel Lola, keeping up our new home, traveling to new places, and spending all of our extra time at the lake. We are completely obsessed with the lake actually. I really can't imagine our lives with out the fun and relaxation we find at Lake Ouachita.
I am married to my wonderful husband Joseph and we just had our first anniversary last night. (sorry so many wedding photos, but these are the best pics of all of my family)
We drove up to James at the Mill in Johnson, where Joseph took me on our first date. That date will be 6 years ago on September 7th of this year. Wow. I truly cant believe it has been that long.
But what a wild ride we have had together.
In November of 2005 Joseph and I went on the wildest ride of our lives, season 9 of the CBS television show, "The Amazing Race". It was the hardest, yet most exhilarating experience of our lives. We always joke about how we have already seen so much, everything is boring from here on out! haha.
I cant wait to share our lives with all of you who we love. And I cant wait to share in your adventures along the way!
Ciao!

The "No Update" Update

Ah, remember the days when every week was filled with musings from a young director, high on the excitement of producing his first film? Me neither.

Okay, so I went on vacation outside Vancouver, British Columbia which I believe is where I'd like to live out my days on this earth. Perfect weather. Nice people. Lovely landscape. Fantastic public transportation. Biker friendly. Groovy vibe. Mountains, beach, and city all within reach of each other. Yeah, I'll see you on the west coast.

Since I've been back, my writing time has been taken up by another project and I haven't really wanted to pull energy away from it. I can't talk about it quite yet, but I will say that there are some "industry eyes" waiting to look at it, which is kind of new and exciting. Hopefully, I'll be able to spill some details about it here in the next month or so, but not quite yet.

Besides, as far as Women's Studies goes, there's nothing to blog about anyway. The waiting game continues and probably will for a few more weeks. I will say that the same industry eyes looking at the script I'm working on may also get to take a look at Women's Studies which can be nothing but good. We'll see.

I know this is a horrible update. Sorry about that, but it's better than no blog at all, right?

Canadian couple now has 10 girls and eight boys.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Alexandru Ionce and his wife never planned to have 18 children in 23 years but when they welcomed little Abigail Ionce into the world, that's just what happened.
Abigail weighed in at seven pounds, 12 ounces last Tuesday, making her the 18th child for 44-year-old Livia Ionce and her husband Alexandru, 51.

The couple immigrated to Canada from Romania in 1990 and now live in Abbotsford, B.C. Their 17 other children range in age from 20 months to 23 years old.
Alexandru Ionce does not know if the couple will be having more children.
"We never planned how many children to have," he said. "We just let God guide our lives, you know, because we strongly believe life comes from God and that's the reason we did not stop the life.
"We let life come."
The family now has 10 girls and eight boys.
"We would have liked a boy to be even," he said. "We thank God all of them are healthy and happy."
He said the birth was not an overly difficult one and that mother and child are doing well.
"It's amazing. We are very happy with the newborn," he said "We love her. She is surrounded with love and joy from everyone in our family."
Alexandru Ionce works in the construction industry in the city 60 kilometres southeast of Vancouver.
"Right now, I am not worried about the job. I'm going to stay beside her and help. I have to take care (of) my wife and baby."
Abigail is sleeping well, he added, waking at about 5 a.m. each day for a feeding.
Only a few of the couple's children have been finicky sleepers at an early age, he said.

"We have just a few of them ... two or three of them woke up during the night. Otherwise we had no problem, you know. Each three hours, they wake up, get food and go back to sleep."
Ionce said the family has received calls from Germany, Romania and England, as well as from media outlets across Canada.

A Real-Life Fairytale Wedding

Brit Sam Carpenter certainly had a fairytale wedding, what with her dressed as Cinderella, the groom as Prince Charming and the vicar as the Bishop from Disney's cartoon.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The 29-year-old bride walked down the aisle with her dad 49, all decked up in the attire of lovable movie ogre Shrek.
Groom Lee Scothern, 36, who took his vows as Prince Charming, changed into an Evel Knievel costume and rode into the reception aboard a motorbike.

The cast for the fairytale wedding also included the couple's seven-year-old son Finlay, who came as pantomime character Buttons and their daughter Summer, five, was dressed as Peter Pan's fairy pal Tinkerbell.
And almost all the 300 guests came to the wedding in fancy dress costumes including Ali G, Zorro, Dracula, a nun, and Roman gladiators.
With a chauffeur dressed as a ginger-bread man, Sam had her brides-maids dressed as Disney princess characters.

"We just thought it would be fun and it turned out really well. The outfits were just amazing," The Sun quoted student nurse Sam, a saying.
And the wedding was not only about costumes, as Sam and Lee even used their big day as a fund-raiser. They made 400 pounds for toys at Sheffield Children's Hospital where Finlay has had limb construction.

Sad Story-Dying Wish

Reece Fleming was diagnosed with leukemia back in 2004 when he was just 4 years old. At age 8, with weeks to live, his dying wish was to marry his school friend.
Reece Fleming battled leukemia for years until this May, when doctors told the family, little Reece, only 8 years old, would only have a few weeks to live.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Reece Fleming’s family decided to try and help him achieve most of his goals before his death. One of those wishes was to marry his school sweetheart, Elleanor Purgslove.
Reece Fleming’s mother stated, “When we found out that we only had a few weeks with him we tried to do absolutely everything with him that we could. Him and Ellie had been ’special friends’ for a couple of years but then they broke up. We said we’d have a pirate party and Ellie came. She went to visit Reece a few times in hospital as well.”

Then during a recent laser tag party, Reece Fleming “proposed” to his little friend Elleanor Purgslove.
After she accepted, their parents arranged a pretend wedding at Reece’s home. On that day, Elleanor arrived at Reece’s house in a wedding dress. Her mother acted as vicar as the school friends exchanged rings and vows. Reece, dressed in his favorite shirt, also presented Elleanor with a red rose.
The families went out to dinner in the mayor’s limousine and organized the wedding with rings and even a fictional certificate.
The kids got married on July 4th. And Reece told his mom, “I can go now,” after his wedding wish had been fulfilled.
His mom added, “He was so proud of her, and we were proud of them both.”
The following day after the wedding, Reece died at home with his family.
During the funeral, the mourners followed a horse-draw hearse on foot.
His mom added, “Even on the Saturday that he died, he got out of bed and walked to the sofa. He always tried walking, right to the end, so we thought if he walked for us then we would walk for him.”

What a sad story… condolences to Reece Flemings family and friends.

Captain America #43 Cover

Marvel's October 2008 solicitations are beginning to appear, featuring Captain America #43. Here's how Marvel describes the issue:

CAPTAIN AMERICA #43
Written by ED BRUBAKER
Pencils by LUKE ROSS
Cover by STEVE EPTING
Bucky has survived his first major trial as the new Captain America, but now a villain from his past - both as Bucky in WW2 and as the Winter Soldier during the Cold War - has come to the U.S. and he'll have to face his history just as he's finding his feet in the present. The beginning of a gripping war and espionage tale, with some familiar faces for long-term Cap readers, as the New Captain America moves further into the Marvel U. And for this action-packed three-part story, award-winning Cap writer Ed Brubaker is joined by acclaimed artist Luke Ross (Jonah Hex, Samurai).
32 PGS./Rated T+ ...$2.99

This issue marks my 20th painted cover, and it's an ongoing experiment. Next month, I'll try to post a step by step of the cover process, much like the page process in the previous post.

Dragon Fish - Moving House - Part 3 - END

Finally, prepared 3 2ft tank of aged water and with the arrival of the 4ft tank/cabinet. I moved VFSR back to the tank after 2 days of cycling aged water. Again, too little transmore wasnt enough to knock out the fish. (Trying to be on the safe side, not putting too much transmore)

Resulted. Jumpy VFSR, drop scales.

I think this is from duration of stay in the temporary bluetub.

Right side...3 scales.

Put some yellow powder (solution) to heal the small wounds.

The scales will grow back in a few months, then a beautiful VFSR again.
