Woman celebrates 100 b'day by saying yes to beau's proposal!

A Brit woman, who recently turned 100, is said to have celebrated her birthday by saying yes to her love of some 40 years when he proposed by phone from Austria.

Myra Harris was reduced to tears of joy when her beau, who happens to be about 30 years younger than her, proposed.

"I said 'yes'," the Age quoted her as saying at her birthday celebrations at the Hotel Windsor December 27.

Unfortunately he was not able to not join the party, as he is caring for his mother in Austria.

Harris' daughter, Myra Hudousek, revealed her mother might have been slightly dishonest about her age when the romance blossomed decades ago.

The extended family gathered to toast her milestone at the Windsor, a place that holds great sentiment for the Elwood grandmother.

She briefly worked behind the hotel's bar in the '60s and her granddaughter married there in the '90s.
"I'd love to be a bride here," she mused.

The new centenarian was delighted by the grandeur of a section of the hotel she had not seen before.

''I'd love to live here forever,'' she said.

''Now I know how the Queen feels,'' she said of Elizabeth II, who had sent her the customary telegram of congratulations on reaching 100.

And the secret to long life and beauty? She's avoided the sun, used plenty of moisturiser, avoids exercise … and enjoys a tipple of champagne or Victoria Bitter.
